At the Pediatric Dental Center, we are always looking for new innovations to help us monitor and diagnose your child’s craniofacial and oral growth and development.

iTero ScannerOur patients benefit from the state-of-the-art iTero digital scanner, which we use to monitor your child’s palatal growth and widening, bite, and when needed create impressions digitally. Using the ITero we can obtain a digital image of a highly accurate 3D model of your dentition, including the contours of each tooth and gingival structure, in just minutes. Digital impressions give the child, parents, and doctor the ability to see your teeth instantly in 3D.

Patients can see the iTero 3D image of their mouth on the computer screen in real time. This assists us in showing patients everything from what thumb sucking can do to their palate or why a child is cheek biting.

Also, for children needing space maintainers or habit appliances, precise impressions mean improved treatment, a much better experience for your child, and superior clinical results. This scanner allows us to capture a precise digital impression of your child’s teeth and jaw, which eliminates the need for messy dental materials, gagging, and often crying.

How Does the iTero Scanner Work?

The iTero Scanner utilizes an optical scanning wand to capture the structure of the teeth and gums. The wand uses a radiation-free laser and can be stopped and started as needed.

This creates a fully realized, 3D digital model of your child’s teeth, jaw, and bite.
